Just Some New Orleans Buskers

The lady casually checking her texts while singing and then blowing her soul through that clarinet is Doreen Ketchens:

Doreen Ketchens (born October 3, 1966 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a jazz clarinetist who performs Dixieland and Trad Jazz. She is one of the first and few female bandleaders in New Orleans, and a musical educator. She has performed at concert halls, music festivals, and U.S. embassies, as well as in decades of weekly performances in Dixieland’s tradition in the Royal Street Performing Arts Zone in the French Quarter of New Orleans with her band, Doreen’s Jazz New Orleans. Ketchens has performed for four U.S. presidents: Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr., Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter, and is widely considered one of the cultural ambassadors of New Orleans and of the city’s traditional music.

Another Strong Contender for Dumbest Person in DC

Republicans consider Democrats voting legally to be “stealing”.

Ron Johnson Cites Covid Cases Among the Vaccinated and Asks, ‘What’s the Point?’

The Dumbest Person in DC contest has a lot of competitors these days, but Ron Johnson always pleads a strong case for why he is most deserving:

What’s the point? I dunno. Maybe this chart would make some sense to him if he had a brain cell:
Here’s the source for that graph.

These people are just so exhausting.

Trumpism Has Nothing to Do With Trump

Of course he got booed. Trumpism has nothing to do with Trump. He unwittingly tapped into it. Since Nixon’s southern strategy, Republican politicians have been using racist dog whistles to solidify their shitty racist base. Trump, not one for subtleties, used an air raid siren instead of a whistle. And they finally could once again be out and proud about believing that the US is for straight white guys and fuck everyone else. Those Trump flags you see streaming from pickup trucks are nothing more than neo-confederate flags.

It’s all about being against anything those brown/gay/abortionist loving liberals stand for.

There has to be better ways to learn the greek alphabet.

Meanwhile, I really just don’t understand the mentality of anti-vaxxers. But here we go:

House votes to hold Mark Meadows in contempt for defying Jan. 6 committee subpoena

Arrest him already so that the judge can let him off on personal recognizance:

WASHINGTON – The House voted Tuesday to hold former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows in contempt for defying a subpoena from the committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

The House voted 222-208 on the measure, which also urged the Justice Department to prosecute Meadows criminally for contempt. He would become the second aide to former President Donald Trump facing charges, after political strategist Steve Bannon.
