In a press conference on Thursday, Louisiana’s Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards called for three days of fasting and praying during lunchtime from July 20 to 22.
“I know it’s a little bit unusual,” Edwards said. “This will be a spiritual diet and exercise that I, as a Catholic Christian, believe is very important anyway.”
He said the prayers are intended for the people of Louisiana, the sick, caretakers and the families of those who have passed on. The idea arose from a telephone conference he had last week with religious leaders from across the state of Louisiana—Edwards said he hosts such a call every three weeks.
Instead of fasting an prayer, why not masking your face and staying the fuck home when you aren’t obligated to go out? Also, can we have more science based politicians and drive out all of these superstitious idiots?
Another record breaking day in the US with more than 77,000 new infections. At what point does anybody in the federal government whose name is not Fauci decide that we may want to take this serious again?
Georgia governor is suing to prevent cities and counties from mandating public mask wearing. Yes, the REPUBLICAN governor of a state that is currently spiking in covid19 cases is suing the Atlanta mayor’s efforts to get people to wear a mask which would help mitigate infection rates. At this point, I don’t know how one can look at what’s happening with the GOP and come up with any other conclusion than they are perfectly fine and in fact, encouraging infection rates to spike.
I watched Hamilton on Disney Plus a week or two ago. It probably loses a lot in translation from the stage to tv (seeing a play in a theater is an experience by itself. But, what can be done now. Not like I could get tickets for Hamilton even in pre-covid times) but it really is brilliant.
