Had an amazing time. We started in Venice and stayed there for four days before taking the train to Rome. Venice was one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. Rome was chaotic and there were a lot of scams going on. Saw several people complaining to the front desks about cab drivers charging 150 Euro to get from the airport (there is a flat fee of $48 coming from Fiumicino Airport) and quite a few other tourists complaining about being pickpocketed at the Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps. Next time I return to Italy I’ll steer clear of Rome and head to Florence.
A bit jet lagged at the moment but will start reintroducing myself to the news and internet in small doses. So if I post stuff that’s old news, please forgive me. (I avoided the news completely except for paying attention to the earthquake in central Italy. We were in Rome the day of it and felt the second quake/aftershock.)
