Noah’s Ark – from the minds and hands of model makers around the world.
From the Proceedings of the Athanasius Kircher Society who also has a link to a Dutchman who is building an Ark.
Dutchman Johan Huibers is building a working replica of Noah’s Ark as a testament to his Christian faith.
The 47-year-old from Schagen, 45km (30 miles) north of Amsterdam, plans to set sail in September through the interior waters of the Netherlands.
Johan’s Ark is a fifth of the size of Noah’s and will carry farmyard animals.
A fifth the size of Noah’s?
A “true” testament of his faith?
I don’t think God wants any pussies on his team. It’s all or nothing, Johan. WWJD, Johan. WWJD.
Ed – you made me spit out my diet pepsi. Thanks a lot.
An ark only one-fifth the size of Noah’s is just sixty cubits by ten cubits by six cubits. BFD.
I’ve seen SUV’s that are almost that big.
No, I [cynically] don’t think it’s faith in God that’s got him building this thing. I think its the lack of faith in Holland’s dike system, combined with a concern with rising sea levels, that’s got this guy motivated.
Funny: they’re almost all daft boxes – but one guy has clearly decided that a ‘ship-like’ (doh!) shape would be better. So much for adherence to the dictated dimensions! One would almost think he didn’t trust the engineering knowledge of the Old Guys…
Model of the ark plus detailed operational procedures.
