George Stewart’s Earth Abides as a Radio Drama

One of my favorite post-apocalyptic books as a radio drama. (Links to mp3) My other favorites in this genre are Lucifer’s Hammer by Larry Niven and Long Voyage Back by Luke Rhinehart.

Update:

SF Signal went a step further and posted the podcast blog where this came from called SciFi Friday along with Part 2 of Earth Abides which will come in handy when I am on the train cursing because I only have half of the broadcast.

  1. wow, never seen john’s blog before… now on my toolbar, going to have to dig in. thanks for the update chris.

chris, did you ever read niven’s A World Out of Time? interesting read if not quite in the same class of lucifer’s hammer. think i need to re-read herbert’s white plague as I think it was in this genre. same with Brin’s the Postman, I saw a bit of the movie and I think it changed my perception of the book, which I liked originally iirc.

  2. I have to read more Niven. I’ve read L’s Hammer and Ringworld from Niven and that’s it. I keep meaning to get back to him.

I have to recommend Rhinehart’s Diceman Kelly. It isn’t scifi but one of the most original books you can read.

  3. My God! I remember reading that book like 15 years ago- an old, yellowed, crusty copy! I also was big on this other sci-fi author at the time…I forget his name…A…Alfred? Wrote a lot about time travel- Goblin Reservation or something.

I can’t wait to get home and check out this link!

    AWESOME GOOD FEEDBACK!
