It wasn't anything that a few swipes with a napkin couldn't take care of, and of course she apologized profusely for it the entire time that she was helping to clean it up. Very soon after, the manager came up to us and also apologized. Even as she was still cleaning up some of the dressing from the floor he started berating her for being so careless, saying things like "This is simply unacceptable," and "You need to shape up if you want to keep working here." She was obviously feeling miserable about the whole thing. Before we left we asked to speak to both the waitress and the manager together at our table. They both kind of had this look like they were expecting us to demand some kind of redress, either a discount or possibly to have the waitress fired. Instead we thanked the waitress for being so helpful after what happened, and we handed her a 150% tip (about $40). Then we proceeded to tell the manager that there is simply no excuse for dressing down an employee in front of the customers and the entire restaurant for what was clearly just an accident, and that it was his actions, not hers, that left us with a bad impression of the place. It was clear from the reaction of the waitress and the other employees that this guy was a dick who was finally getting called on it in a very public manner. I just hope she didn't get fired for that. He seemed like the kind of douche bag that might do that.
