I hate missionaries with a passion. I can’t even fathom the level of narcissism it takes to go to a different country to “educate” the native peoples. But this idiot really takes the cake. The tribe he was attempting proselytize has no immunity against any of his germs and he could have killed them all. In fact, we can’t even be sure they aren’t infected already.
Indian officers had a nervous long-distance face-off with the tribe who killed an American missionary, in their latest bid to locate his body on a remote island, police said.
The police team, who took a boat just off Indian-owned North Sentinel island on Saturday, spotted men from the Sentinelese tribe on the beach where John Allen Chau was last seen, the region’s police chief Dependra Pathak told AFP.
Using binoculars, officers — in a police boat about 400 metres from the shore — saw the men armed with bows and arrows, the weapons reportedly used by the isolated tribe to kill Mr Chau as he shouted Christian phrases at them.
“They stared at us and we were looking at them,” Mr Pathak said. The boat withdrew to avoid any chance of a confrontation.
Police are taking painstaking efforts to avoid any disruption to the Sentinelese — a pre-neolithic tribe whose island is off-limits to outsiders — as they seek Chau’s body.
Yes, blame the invisible man for disrupting your organization of worshiping an invisible man. I blame pedophile priests who take refuge in an organization that has done everything in its power to shield them from accountability and prosecution.
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – The devil is alive and well and working overtime to undermine the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis says.
In fact, the pope is so convinced that Satan is to blame for the sexual abuse crisis and deep divisions racking the Church that he has asked Catholics around the world to recite a special prayer every day in October to try to beat him back.
I have a low regard for missionaries already. Going to other countries to tell them that their religion is wrong (and to threaten them with an eternity in hell if they don’t follow Jesus) disgusts me to my core. But this guy really takes the cake. I’m just surprised he didn’t have a red hat with MAGA in white type:
A U.S. man claiming to be a missionary and Marine veteran was arrested and accused of assaulting a hotel staff member in Uganda after he hurled racist slurs at workers and threatened to kill one man.
“Kampala Police has arrested an American citizen for allegedly assaulting a Grand Imperial Hotel Staff,” the Kampala Metropolitan Police reported on its Facebook page.
Police said footage from security television cameras showed “a foreigner, identified later as Mr. Jimmy L.Taylor punching and humiliating a hotel employee.”
Video footage of the incident posted by multiple people went viral, spurring widespread condemnation of the man’s actions and language. According to at least one news report, Taylor is an Arizona resident.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue defends predatory priests by claiming it’s not rape if the child isn’t penetrated.
In a bizarre, insensitive, and outrageous post, Bill Donohue, president of the very conservative Catholic League, attacked the recent grand jury report documenting the rape and sexual abuse of over a 1,000 children by hundreds of Catholic priests in Pennsylvania.
Donohue called the report released by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court an “obscene lie” while defending the Catholic Church and their deplorable record of covering up and enabling the rape and sexual abuse of children by predatory priests.
In his post titled “Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report Debunked,” Donohue desperately tries to minimize the findings of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and in so doing Donohue reveals the profound poverty of both his intellect and his character.
He is always in the upper echelon of scummy people but he really outdid himself here.
The Catholic church is a shitty organization that will always protect their pedophile priests even with the new “nice” pope:
SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — Pope Francis accused victims of Chile’s most notorious pedophile of slander Thursday, an astonishing end to a visit meant to help heal the wounds of a sex abuse scandal that has cost the Catholic Church its credibility in the country.
Francis said that until he sees proof that Bishop Juan Barros was complicit in covering up the sex crimes of the Rev. Fernando Karadima, such accusations against Barros are “all calumny.”
The pope’s remarks drew shock from Chileans and immediate rebuke from victims and their advocates. They noted the accusers were deemed credible enough by the Vatican that it sentenced Karadima to a lifetime of “penance and prayer” for his crimes in 2011. A Chilean judge also found the victims to be credible, saying that while she had to drop criminal charges against Karadima because too much time had passed, proof of his crimes wasn’t lacking.
“When he puts his power on display it’s never without reason. There’s a purpose. And we may not always understand what that purpose is, but we know it’s not random and we know that weather is sent to cause us to respond to God in humility, awe and repentance.”
Didn’t Charles Manson have basically the same philosophy?
They are praying to that nice god who sent a Hurricane to flood their cities and towns and who killed at least 35 people for the time being.
ROCKPORT (KIII NEWS) – The Texas Governor signed a gubernatorial proclamation Thursday at the grounds of what remains of the First Baptist Church in Rockport declaring Sunday, Sept. 3, a Day of Prayer in Texas.
“Howdy Texans,” Governor Greg Abbott began, addressing a large crowd of people at the destroyed church.

The Governor was among a group of state and federal officials visiting Rockport with Vice President Mike Pence. After landing at the Corpus Christi International Airport, the Vice President and his entourage made their way to First Baptist Church, followed by a tour of a devastated Rockport neighborhood.
“We all know one thing, and it’s that there is no storm as tough as the people of Texas,” Abbott said. “We will rise again and we will rebuild this great town and the affected areas across the entire state of Texas.”
“As we gather today here at this church, it’s important that we remember that the greatest power that exists is the power of God, and the way that God can touch and move all of our lives. It was God acting though the lives of so many Texans who came to the rescue of other Texans. It was the power of God that was able to pull people out of the water and literally save them,” Abbott said. “As a result of that, I think it’s very important that I issue and sign a Texas Gubernatorial Proclamation here today. By the power vested in me as the Governor of the State of Texas, I am declaring this Sunday, Sept. 3, as a Day of Prayer in Texas.”
