Back
1,500 miles, 12 states and 125,900 sightings of Shoney's restaurants in the Southern states later, I am back. There isn't too much to say about the drive from Miami to Boston since the Interstate is fast but bare. The weirdest thing was hitting
South of the Border right before entering North Carolina. We drove by it quite early in the morning so nothing was really open and there was no point in stopping. We ended up getting to NJ about 8pm on Monday so decided to stop over in Atlantic City to rest up for a day. Or two. A few quick random thoughts about the drive.
- There are so many fireworks stores in the South that if the Civil War took place today, they would have enough explosives to conquer the North in three weeks.
- I ate at a Maurice's BBQ that had pamphlets in the gift store titled, "How the South Will Defeat Northern Liberalism". Needless to say, I avoided saying anything with an "ar" to hide my Boston accent.
- All road trips that I take from now on will pass through or end in Vegas. Atlantic City will do if on the East Coast.
- Total amount of money spent on tolls from FL to VA = $0.00. Total amount from MD to MA = $20.00+.
It may take me a bit to get caught up blogging but a little at a time does the trick. Thanks to everyone who left me comments or emailed me.
