Grady Little
Red Sox management formally declined to renew Grady Little's contract
yesterday. I think it was really the only move that they could have
made. It would have been difficult to sell him as their manager for
the next few years after what happened in Game 7 of this year's ALCS.
Some people think that he shouldn't have been judged by that one decision.
I think he botched alot of decisions through the season and playoffs.
The decision he made to keep Pedro Martinez out on the mound when he
was obviously exhausted was simply one of the worst decisions ever made
in professional sports. Careers are made and destroyed on the basis
of KEY decisions. He had to go.
