August 10, 2006Liquids on a Plane This is the funniest thing I've seen today. Update: Commenter "Dave", whose history commenting on Cynical-C consists of pointing out who is wrong based on who disagrees with his point of view says this in the comments:
I hardly see this as funny.
There's a very fine line between comedy and tragedy. If they had succeeded then obviously this wouldn't be funny at all. I would think that this is so obvious that I wouldn't need to even state that but since some people have thick skulls, such as commenter "Dave", I guess I'll have to spell it out. There is very little control most of us have over certain types of situations that may come about from terrorist threats, natural occurrences (ie hurricanes, tsunamis, etc) or even some things that happens more frequently such as car accidents. When you are married to someone who could have easily been involved in something catastrophic (Mrs. Cynical flies for one of the airlines mentioned in the plot to Europe and England several times a month) sometimes the only thing you can do to keep yourself feeling somewhat sane is to laugh at a silly poster about a dumb movie starring Samuel L. Or I can do what Dave does and buy myself a big box of adult diapers. Those muslim terrorists were real. Their plans were real, they had real liquid explosives, and there is no doubt that their intentions were very nearly realized. Chris, you wouldn't be laughing if they had succeeded and your mother was on one of those planes. |
