Another taser happy piggy.
An internal police investigation is under way after a formal complaint was filed against a Utah state trooper who was videotaped Tasering a man who refused to sign a speeding ticket.
The officer’s conduct has been called into question after a videotape of the incident was posted on YouTube.
The video, taken from a Utah Highway Patrol dashboard camera, shows Trooper John Gardner using a Taser on Jared Massey during a traffic stop on State Road 40 in Uintah County on Sept. 14.
“We do have an open internal review, or investigation, of the case,” Sgt. Jeff Nigbur, a spokesman for the Utah Department of Public Safety, told FOXNews.com. “We’re trying to expedite that to get that done as quickly as possible. If the trooper acted inappropriately we will definitely, absolutely, take the appropriate measures to resolve that.”

The similarity between this taser incident and the one that happened up here in Vancouver is the lack of common sense from the police officers in question. Not clear with they’re commands, insanely trigger happy, and situations that weren’t escalated at all. I feel the worst for that poor woman’s complete fear and utter shock from an individual who is supposed to be serving and protecting. I’m done.
correction: *their. my apologies to the officer and his family. Don’t taser me bro!
I was actually reading a Maryland highway patrolman’s rundown of this event today. He was pretty critical of the officer in this situation, really helped re-enforce the notion that cops are essentially people just like you and me, there’s a few assholes in every bunch. The only real difference being that when you give an asshole the authority of a peace officer (I’d really like to hear them referred to as peace officers more often, to help remind everyone of their real duty)they’ll turn into monsters.

I’ve been lurking a law enforcement forum for awhile now. Their outlook on this, and pretty much any other topic is a little unnerving.

wow. That police forum is seriously scary. Between youtube, and the retarded discussion between “professional law enforcement officers” about how “well” the situation was handled… my respect for officers has plummeted into the negative.
Just looking at the first few posts in that officer forum has me thinking I need to get some sleep before I can even begin to comprehend the horror of what I’ve just seen. The optimism I had seems likely to completely wither away once I get further in.
It’s ironic how “serve & protect” is constantly reiterated, even though it’s the lack of responsibility of SERVANTS, which swiftly turns people into robots.
According to the Milgram experiment at least, 50% are susceptible, to a complete lack of empathy for the victim, as long as they obey orders.
LMAO, the guy deserved it. He was totally in the wrong.
First, you see the 40 MPH sign at the beginning of the clip. The guy never argues that he wasn’t speeding, only if the sign was there.
Second, he wants to argue with the cop and go look for the sign before he’ll sign the ticket. THIS IS NOT HIS DAY IN COURT. You sign the f’n ticket and argue about it later.
Third, he is told FOUR TIMES to turn around as he’s walking towards his vehicle.
He’s lucky the cop had a non-lethal alternative to subdue him with. I probably just would have shot his stupid ass.
The cop is a bastard
Hilarious. Makes me want to be a traffic cop.
Y’know, I’m going to have to side with the cop on this one. a) You don’t refuse to sign–all you’re signing is that you’ve received the ticket, it isn’t an admission of guilt. b) You don’t argue with the cop. You don’t continue to argue with the cop. You follow his directions. You follow his directions if he threatens tasing. Otherwise, you get tased.
Only thing I see the officer doing wrong is not reading the guy his rights, and maybe not asking permission to search the vehicle, I’m not sure.

Cops are not there to protect us, they exist mainly to wear mustaches… and sometimes enforce the law.
Moral of the story: Don’t get out of your car if you get stopped! Sign an X on the ticket and get the hell away from the cops!
