The special effects in the new movies are idiotic. There can’t be a simple 2 second shot of the sky with out 795 space cruisers and 95 space highways and some little robot bumping into a wall as something else explodes and makes a goofy little scream as it whips past the camera only to land next to some baby robots snuggling that then burp hilariously, then explode. The only attempt to appear like a movie with any appeal to adults is to add rotten performances to even worse dialog.I think the movies haven’t gotten worse, we have grown up and can’t stomach this crap anymore. The first movies are a guilty pleasure because I was young when I first saw them but the new digital additions ruin it for me.

I think Huck Finn got the same sort of bad reviews when it came out as Simon gave SW.
What Ebert said – he’s old at heart.
Tho to be fair all his crits – ghastly dialouge, terrible plotting, lousy acting – are all true.
I still loved those movies.
