5 Comments so far. Leave a comment below.Look at the blast radius on the suface of the planet where the smoke spreads out on the ground compared to the rest of the planet and its atmosphere. Does anybody else feel that this planet is frighteningly smaller than thought?

A friend tells me these images were taken not from the ISS, but from a high altitude WB-57 weather plane.
I must admit that I would expect the view from the ISS to have a much darker sky, but if it is taken from a plane, they must be a helluva long way up.
Anyone know any better?
Yeah, this picture could not have been taken from earth orbit. Maybe 10-15 miles up.
I think this picture may have been doctored. A weather plane may be unlikely due to the no-fly zone in place during a launch profile.
