Anyone who worked in the software industry can tell you that the reason not much happened is that we worked our asses off for a couple years. Problems started showing up in the investment industry (where I was working at the time) in 1990, when bond maturity dates started going past 1999.

What a shame…. I had food, water, I even had weapons ready.
But…. Fzzzt…. nothing happened. The clock struck 12 and my computer kept right on going.
At least I still have the weapons so when the apocalypse does finally show up I’m ready.
