Google Street View Team Runs Over Bambi

From Gizmodo:

Here’s a sad one: the Google Maps car took out a baby deer, and it recorded the entire process for all Google Maps users to see. For shame, Google Maps car!

As you follow the street view scene down Five Points Road in Rush, NY, you can see the deer run out in front of the car, get hit and then see it on the side of the road before the car pulls over. And that’s the end of the Street View data for Five Points Road.

  1. lumpi,

    Insulin-rush.

  2. Nate,

is it just me or does that second photo have the look of photoshoppery? As a designer the bottom looks very blurry on the road as if someone was trying to use the clone stamp tool to get rid of a google car.

  3. Howard,

I went to look (to rule out a photoshop). “Currently unavailable due to high demand” Hmmmmmmmmm…..

  4. Rev,

Google PhotoShops a lot. Originally you could look down and see a white van or suv (at least in the St. PauL area). Now its touched up so its just goofy looking road.

  5. Terry,

It looks like Google caught on and has now blocked the images in their maps.

  6. Mike K.,

    At least they stopped.

And I noticed the PS in the bottom too. The shadow of the top of the van is just floating there. Unless Google uses landspeeders now.

  7. Flu-Bird,
