From FoxNews:
HENDERSON, Texas — A young East Texas couple was arraigned Wednesday on capital murder charges accusing them of beating the woman’s 1-year-old daughter to get rid of “the demons.”
Authorities said that the child was also bitten more than 20 times.
Blaine Milam, 19, and Jessica Carson, 18, remained jailed Wednesday in lieu of a $2 million bond for each.
They were arrested Tuesday after Rusk County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a 911 call found 13-month-old Amora Bain Carson beaten. Investigators think the couple used a hammer to “beat the demons out” of Amora, Carson’s daughter.
Lt. Reynold Humber said that the couple told detectives various stories on how the child was injured, including that the toddler was in an auto accident and attacked by the family’s dogs. They even said that the child beat herself in the head with a hammer.
“They had multiple stories they went through before they told us they had beaten the child to death,” he told The Tyler Morning Telegraph for its Wednesday editions.
Humber said the couple eventually told deputies the child was possessed and they were trying to rid her of demons.

sigh.
true believers, what can i say.
I still think texass should be ceded to Mexico for storage of all animal and human waste generated by nafta.
@BTG
Don’t lump us all in with those freaks.
Besides…we stole Texas fair and square!
I’ll say it again: IQ tests, age limit and licensing to have children.
Unfortunately, eugenics is teh evil and we keep getting isht like this. Please tell me which is the more evil?
What are you talking about, Amanda? If we allow two gay people who love each other to get married, my heterosexual marriage and the whole institution of marriage will be threatened. But we shouldn’t stop people like this from getting married and propagating! After all, a good parent will take their son to the city gates to get stoned if he disobeys…these parents were just taking care of it early! (Sorry for the overdone sarcasm…religion and its actions really get under my skin sometimes.)
So the baby was possessed by a demon, which is why her parents decided it would be good to bite her and hit her with a hammer?
Yeah, that makes sense.
Sadly enough, I’m almost glad this baby didn’t have to grow up under these parents. I would never wish for the death of a child, but when the alternative is unimaginable torture and abuse (which obviously would have occurred later on) this might almost be a form of mercy.
That said, I’m really really REALLY glad they caught these fetid pieces of (in)humanity.
Ugh, this reminds me of a post on Violent Acres, where V spoke about something similar (can’t find the right post just now). A young girl was talked out of having an abortion, but her and the boyfriend were so fcuked up, they abused and tortured the baby to death in satanic rituals. All because some right to lifer thought it would be better that the girl be talked out of having an abortion.
Rights of the fetus, fcuk yeah.
I don’t “buy” the story that the parents actually believed their child was possessed by the devil and beat it to death. If I believed in God and I had a devil posessed baby, I’d bring the baby to the priest and do an exorcism. I just think these are two psychopaths who met, fell in love and unfortunately had a baby.
Apparently they gave a series of bullshit answers eh. Why are we believing the ‘possession’ one? Just because it fits our prejudices? Maybe that was another bullshit story invented to give them grounds for an insanity plea, and their actual motive was just that the brat wouldn’t stop screaming, or kept turning off the telly during ‘Wife Swap’, or something.
Anyway, it reminds me of the ‘Baby P’ case in the UK – which AFAIK had shit all to do with religion. Some people are just fucked up…
It probably doesn’t help that justice systems tend to be remarkably lenient with parents who lose it and kill their babies.
ugh…
HENDERSON — The man charged with beating to death a toddler during an “exorcism†earlier this week in Rusk County was supposed to be behind bars at the time as part of a condition of probation for the second-degree felony criminal solicitation of a child.
from here
First, I would hurt the ‘parents’ in ways known only to those of the Inquisition (nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition), then I’d like to see a jury in the land that would put me away for it.
Eye for an eye.
Sick fucks. I’m also dubious of the hammer defense.
These folks need to have their brains removed and studied closely by pipe smoking scientists with long beards (or thick glasses) and white coats.
If they really believed the child was possessed, what good did they figure the hammer would do? How do these people think? Do they think? Why are they allowed to think if they do?
Sick. And it has nothing to do with religion .. these are just sick people. Please, let’s not use this as an example why religion is bad. If you go that path, atheism loses big time with psychopaths like Stalin, Mao and the Kims of North Korea whose radical atheism brutally killed tens of millions of people.
This is just humanity at its worst, and they will find whatever excuse to do their sick stuff. And that sucks.
Education, education, and then some education. That might actually help a little in the long run.
