What I Learned Today – Tuesday, July 14

I guess we’ll start with the covid. Always the covid now.

California is another state having record numbers of new infections and is starting to shutdown again. It’s most likely too little too late at this point. But “too little, too late”, should be replacing “E pluribus unum” on our currency at this point.

Houston’s mayor is advocating for a shutdown stating that they opened too quickly. [Narrator’s voice, “they did!”] Gov. Abbott is against the shutdown because when you’ve made every single wrong decision, why break the streak?

The Orange County School Board has decided (remotely, mind you) that schools there will be able to open up next month without masks and without social distancing. My god!

One county in Texas has an emergency alert broadcast urging people to stay home due to covid-19 spreading around the area.

Dr. Fauci continues to be a thorn in Trump’s side.  Yesterday he said that Covid-19 cases were exploding because we didn’t shut down completely. Even the shutdown that we kind of had back in March was a quasi one at best. And then you recall that Trump got bored with it after two weeks and wanted to open everything up back on Easter (April 12). Trump and his cronies fired back saying, that Fauci really doesn’t know what he’s talking about and is wrong a lot. The Association of American Medical Colleges released a statement in support of Dr. Fauci. So if you’re keeping score at home, the Trump administration is now working harder on discrediting their experts than they are on the pandemic.

Those of you who are bored with covid will be delighted to know that a squirrel tested positive for bubonic plague.

And 5.4 million Americans have lost their insurance during the middle of a pandemic. Anybody else thinking that tying your health insurance to your job may not be the brightest of ideas.

And Gov. Florida Man gets heckled at a news conference.
