JD sent in these pictures of her beautiful cat Leela with some very sad news:
I always meant to send in pics for you….but work and life kept getting in the way. A poor excuse…but it is the unfortunate truth. I will have to send in more of our other fur babies soon.
The universe isn’t cruel enough some times…despite everything around us…our cat quit eating last week. We discovered she had an abdominal mass, considered inoperable. A week of comfort care and love later, we had to put her to sleep. We knew it was time when she quit drinking and continued to grow weaker. Despite all of this she still came out for love and affection anytime someone found her hiding spot.
She was our “talky kitty”. A hundred different vocalizations depending on her mood and situation. One that would hide just out of sight if company was over, but always came out when the room was quiet and still. A notorious creeper that was never content to sit next to someone, but rather had to creep slowly into your personal space over a period of 10-20 minutes…only to try again if removed from a book or lap top. A bed hog extraordinaire, that excelled in the late night wake up. At the end she gave us one last goodbye “meep” before her heart stopped forever.
We had the privilege to share her company for 12 years, but I still wish we could have had more. She will never be forgotten, and will be missed by all in our home.
I’m so sorry JD. I the one comfort I have when I lose a beloved furry friend is that I have always given them a loving home in a world that has too much tragedy. It’s the most important comfort I believe that we can have while we mourn our buddies. Thank you so much for sharing Leela with us.
