Dorcas Reilly, inventor of the green bean casserole, a Thanksgiving favorite, has died at 92

You know, I just realized I have never had green bean casserole:

In 1955, the AP, like other newspapers and magazines of the time, was running a feature of an easy-to-make Campbell’s Soup side. The question came with a caveat: the recipe had to be built around green beans and Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup, two items most Americans regularly had in their homes in the ’50s.

The request fell to the Campbell’s Soup Co. test kitchen in Camden, N.J., an arm of the company that focused on coming up with recipes for its products. Dorcas Reilly, a supervisor for Campbell’s home economics department, was tasked with leading her team to figure out what could be done. The group would test and grade recipes repeatedly. Only a perfect score would qualify it as ready to go. In November of that year, Reilly and her team settled on what would be first known as “the Green Bean Bake,” an easily adaptable six-ingredient recipe of green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper and French fried onions that takes 10 minutes to prep and 30 minutes to bake.

Good Morning, Our President is Broken in a Profound Way

And while Trump tries to push the blame for his divisive and violent rhetoric onto the media, at least two more pipebombs have been found:

Bombs Sent to the Clintons and Obamas

From the NY Times:

Two explosive devices were found in mail sent to the offices of former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Secret Service said Wednesday.

The devices were similar to one found on Monday at the home of the billionaire philanthropist George Soros, two law enforcement officials said.

In a statement, the Secret Service said it “has intercepted two suspicious packages addressed to Secret Service protectees,” who were identified as Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama.

The device addressed to Mrs. Clinton in Westchester County was found late on Tuesday by a Secret Service employee who screens mail for her office, the statement said. The package addressed to Mr. Obama was intercepted by Secret Service personnel in Washington, D.C. early on Wednesday.

Man accused of groping woman on flight: Trump ‘says it’s OK to grab women by their private parts’

From ABC News:

A man arrested for allegedly touching a woman’s breast on an airplane, according to court documents, told authorities “the president of the United States says it’s OK to grab women by their private parts.”

Bruce Alexander was on a Houston-to-Albuquerque flight on Sunday when he twice leaned forward and touched the breast of a woman sitting in front of him, court records show.

The woman, who wasn’t identified, told authorities she thought the first of two touchings may have been accidental, while the second clearly wasn’t.

A White Woman Harassed A Family Speaking Spanish At A Restaurant And Demanded To See Their Passports

Imagine being such a miserable wretch that you resort to being a language cop.

A white woman confronted a Spanish-speaking family last week while they were dining at a Virginia restaurant and demanded, “Show me your passports,” the latest in a series of recent videos that have gone viral online showing minorities being confronted for doing normal things.

A Guatemalan woman recorded part of the hostile confrontation that occurred on Oct. 17 at Andy’s restaurant in Lovettsville, Virginia. The woman shared the video with Telemundo 44, saying she did so to encourage others facing racist harassment to not stay silent.
