I don’t know why anybody would ever want to work for this monster. And before you say, “he was only joking,” remember that Trump has no sense of humor and does not joke. And even if it is his idea of a joke, it’s a pretty shitty sense of humor for a boss to joke about firing an employee.
President Donald Trump on Monday night appeared to joke about firing Health and Human Service Secretary Tom Price if he does not corral enough votes to get an Obamacare repeal bill through the Senate tomorrow.
“By the way, you’re going to get the votes?” Trump said to Price, who stood beside him onstage at a national Boy Scout event in West Virginia.
“He better get ’em. He better get ’em. Oh, he better,” Trump said, turning back to the crowd. “Otherwise I’ll say, Tom, you’re fired. I’ll get somebody.”
He turned to Price, smiling, then continued.
“He better get Senator Capito to vote for it,” Trump said, referring to Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV). “You’ve got to get the other senators to vote for it. It’s time.”
In a later aside, Trump added: “We could use some more loyalty, I will tell you that.”
My results pictured above. Yes, I bought a disposable aluminum cake pan to simulate their takeout dishes for posterity. My verdict is that this is a pretty damn good recipe. The rice isn’t as orange as the food cart’s but it’s still pretty flavorful and the imitation white sauce is close enough. My stamp of approval.
Next time I’ll have to try Chef John’s pita bread recipe to go along with it.
These things usually happen without warning so I wouldn’t be surprised if this report isn’t a bit premature. But the way this ship is taking on water, nothing really would surprise me at this point:
Among those who viewed the President’s public rebuke of Sessions as unprofessional, according to several sources, is Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the former Exxon-Mobil CEO.
Tillerson has a growing list of differences with the White House, including a new debate over Iran policy and personnel. His frustration is hardly a secret and it has spilled out publicly at times. But friends sense a change of late.
For weeks, conversations with Tillerson friends outside of Washington have left the impression that he, despite his frustrations, was determined to stay on the job at least through the end of the year. That would allow time to continue efforts to reorganize the State Department and would mean he could claim to have put in a year as America’s top diplomat.
But two sources who spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity over the weekend said they would not be surprised if there was a “Rexit” from Foggy Bottom sooner that that.
Sessions was one of Trump’s biggest and earliest supporters:
President Trump kicked off Monday morning with a tweet that seemed to reflected his open hostility towards Jeff Sessions, his own appointee as attorney general. “So why aren’t the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered A.G., looking into Crooked Hillarys crimes & Russia relations?” the president wrote, describing his long-time supporter Sessions as troubled. Trump last week told The New York Times that he would not have appointed Sessions had he known he would recuse himself from the Russia probe. Sessions, of course, was forced to recuse after it was revealed that he’d met with Russian officials during the 2016 presidential campaign, despite claiming otherwise during his confirmation hearings.
