Either he’s so old and deaf that he thought that this guy was asking him for money, or he doesn’t consider minimum wage employment to be “real” work. Either way all together now; Christ, what an asshole!
He clearly doesn’t understand the question, which is bizarre on it’s own because it’s pretty short and straight-forward, so he probably only heard, “Jesse Jackson Jr.”, and, “Do you support that?”, and that was enough for him. What kills me is his reaction isn’t to gather more information to make sure he understands what’s being asked, it’s a quick, “Probably not.” That alone says he’s willing to make decisions without being clearly informed, enough-so to say it straight to a voter’s face.
I wish that guy had a second to throw out a, “Should I vote for you in the next election? Probably not.”
“Get a job”.
“I do have a job”.
“Then why do you want a benefit? Get a job”.
Ok…sooooo a living wage is considered a benefit? A wage is payment for services, it is NOT a benefit. This man clearly either doesn’t have the mental faculty or the intelligence to be in any capacity to govern any part of society.
The government we have today is the exact type of government that our founding fathers fought to free us from.
Prime example of why we need Congressional term limits. This dottering old fool doesn’t even understand the question being asked, but is quick to attack even the vague notion that anyone might be receiving a “benefit”. Ensconced fossils like this have no business dictating policy.
He is clearly incapable of doing HIS job! Should not there be some minimum standards for candidates for all political posts such as:
1. Capable of simple reasoning. 2. Know the basics of the constitution?

He does realize that the minimum wage only applies to people who do have jobs, right? I’m not sure how his response relates to the question.

More politicians should be this candid. It makes it easy to know who I’m not voting for.
