For the past few years, I’ve been keeping a list of the books I have read during the year. A bit bored today so I figured I’d update the list. You’ll notice that during the fall I went through a Stephen King kick that took me through the rest of the year. I had read his early works back in in high school and had love it then. I thought I may not enjoy it as much if I reread them as an adult, especially since I haven’t really cared much for his more recent work. I was wrong. His early stuff still captivated me. I have a feeling that sometime after Misery came out in the 80s, his editors gave him free rein and the quality declined.

I just DO NOT like that book, even though I like King in general. I need to reread IT again

I remember when I first tried reading the Tommyknockers 20 years ago I couldn’t get into it. I thought maybe this time around… Nope.

Back when Tommy Lee was dating/married to Pamela Anderson, that was our “code name” for her boobs.

Gee, I wish you would have rated them. There are so many books and too little time.

Rage may be the only book that has a censorship request from its own author (yes, that Streisands the book and yes that’s why I read it).

Was that The White Mountains by John Christopher?
How could you not read the sequels?
Perhaps they were much more compelling when I was eleven.

Long time viewer, minimal poster. Just curious… do you still watch TV/movies and balance with books or mainly focus on books for entertainment?

I really only read on the train and before I go to bed. So there’s a balance.

I didn’t care for the Dark Tower series at all. I managed to get to book 3 before throwing in the towel.

That’s a shame. The Dark Tower series is my favorite work from him. Still, I know a few people who have tried it and given up in the midst of the third book.

Ross,
It really seems to be one of those that evokes a binary reaction from people. Enough people have considered it one of their favorite series. It just never resonated with me.

That’s a lotta reading! I used to read as much, must get back to it. Like a bit of Stephen King, also.
