I love that the studio actually wanted James Caan as Michael, too. Thank heavens Coppola’s decisions won out for casting. The Godfather I and II are basically the only Pacino movies I watch anymore where I don’t see Pacino, but the character he’s playing.
The DVD set I have has a bunch of these screen tests as extras, some of them are pretty interesting. I don’t know why Coppola was so dead on with his choices but thank pasta he got his way,
I enjoyed all of the Godfather Flicks. They all rocked to me. Robert De Niro should have been chosen to act in any part. He would have been a good fit anywhere in the movie. Thanks for sharing…
