  1. LL,

He should have caused an accident on day 665.

  2. As the older copies of Revelations show the number of the beast to be 616, someone should have told him that he’d already worn it…

    • DJ,

616? That’s the standard Marvel Universe number! Somebody needs to warn Spider-Man!

  3. Justin,

No good boss would fire someone for the lack of a sticker on a single day. I bet there was a list a mile long of this guy being an insufferable douche and the boss realized he could get rid of him on a technicality. I bet his ex-coworkers are the loving it.

    • niel,

Actually, Georgia is a “right to work” state (irony, yes) .. which means, among other things, that his boss can fire him for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

    • DR,

Who says his boss was a good one? There’s boatloads of crappy bosses out there.

  4. Brian,

Another Christian who doesn’t know the book of Revelation is not meant to be literal.

  5. Bacopa,

You would thing that someone would have faked an injury near day 666 and set the counter back to zero.

Right to work or not, this guy probably had a record of write ups before he was fired. If he was a workplace badass they would have worked around this.

BTW, there is a 666 telephone exchange in southwest Houston and parts of Bellaire. Most people there are Jewish or Hindu so they don’t care.

  6. Mike K,

for those of you in the south, there is no Publix supermarket with the store number “666.” When they hit that number they skipped it and went straight to store #667.

  7. DR,

He’s an idiot, but he’s right. Wearing the sticker has nothing to do with his primary job functions (it’s just some HR woo-filled idea), so he should not have been fired for not wearing a stupid sticker.

He should really contact the ACLU, not some podunk local lawyers who likely have no experience litigating First Amendment cases, though.

Don’t you just hate it when people are right for the wrong fucking reason ?

  8. Mike K,

Couldn’t they have made an exception and let him write “665+1″?

  9. Sue Dunham,

Why not take the day off? This guy is just being a dick, and I bet he makes a habit of it.

    • DR,

In the video, they say clearly that he asked for the day off, but his employer refused.

  10. Jim T,

Boy, that was a choppily edited clip.

But he did briefly say in it that he asked for the day of, so presumably that was refused for some reason. He was then suspended and fired.

As much as a doof I think this guy is, I gotta side with him over the company. If he got fired just for the sticker, that’s complete bullshit. If there are other more valid reasons to fire him and this was just an excuse, they handled it piss poorly.

    Glad I don’t work there. :-)

    • Rayceeya,

While I agree, we still don’t know the whole story.

There are lots of reasons for a workplace to refuse to give time off. But, we only have the word of this Christian screwball as to whether he was forced to wear the sticker or not.

There are also lots of reasons he could have been fired for. Again we only have his word to go on because the company refused comment. Which is the legally responsible thing to do considering this nutcase is making a federal case of it.

Doesn’t he know the Devil tattoos it on the inside of your skull? Poor fool.

  12. Rayceeya,

I saw this a couple of weeks ago. My interpretation is there was something else going. This guy was probably already on his was out. The sticker thing is just a smokescreen for his legal proceedings.

IMO either he was already going to quit or he was close to being let go already. I mean can you imagine working with a guy like that?

Actually I’m sure most of us have worked with a guy like that at one time or another. I know I have. But still he didn’t get fired over the sticker. Mark my words there was something else going on.

The video only shows one side of the issue. I’d like to see what some of this guy’s former co-workers have to say about him.

My suspicion is more than a few would say “Good riddance”.

Naturally I will state that businesses are bending over backward to accommodate religious issues…

    Unless the religion is Christianity

  14. albaby,

I wanted this to be the punchline… they spoke to his former employer who turns out to be… satan. At least in my head, it was really funny.
