  1. To be serious for a moment – be careful when you do this, especially on smaller animals. On a particularly small animal like a kitten, you should start by just blowing into its nose, but don’t seal your mouth around its snout. They have smaller lungs than us, and you can rupture them by forcing in too much air. If that doesn’t work and you do need to seal your mouth around its snout, use VERY short, light breaths. Sadly, I found this out the hard way, and the guilt still tears me up inside.
