Question of the Day

How was your weekend?

I had yesterday off because of Columbus Day and today is my regular day off (Our hours have been cut by 20% since summer ended which gives me Tuesday, my most hated day, off.)

My weekend was peaceful. Spent time with Mrs. C. Enjoyed a nice day near the water in Bristol RI (went to Blithewold), made clam chowder, and finished reading Reamde which started stronger than it ended. (I loved the Richard Forthast character but grew tired of the shootouts and constant chase scenes).

  1. My son turned eight this weekend. We had a sleepover party. I didn’t get much sleep. There was much chaos and things were broken. So, by eight year old boy standards, it was a resounding success.

  2. For me the weekend didn’t happen. I worked Saturday, went to bed at 10:00 pm and, with the exception of a 3-hour break in the middle, didn’t get up until 6:00 Sunday evening. Been busy all week so I guess it finally caught up with me.

  3. Took our Kosovar foreign exchange daughter to Tombstone and Bisbee, AZ to give her a taste of the old west. Discovered a brewery in Bisbee that I was unaware of. Yay for me! And we hung out with family in Tucson for a few days. Good food, good drink, and good company throughout. All in all, a better weekend than most.

  4. Good relaxing weekend. Planted a few fruit trees (hoping they survive the winter). Won my Fantasy Football game woo-hoo. However my sister wrote me an email explaining that my anti-religion Facebook posts are hurting her deeply. I am expected to not post about that anymore. WTF?

      1. Is even Neal Stephenson now writing novels as quasi movie scripts? Why does almost every movie have to have all kinds of chases and shoot-’em-ups even if they’re not necessary to the plot? (Think Inception)

  5. Ripped up the carpet in my upstairs game room to lay down parquet tiles. Many thanks to folks who had installed the carpet for random stapling. Spent a solid 1 hr and 1/2 removing staples from the floor. A pain, but glad I did it.

  6. It was thankfully a quiet weekend. Granted those Bears lost that stupid rugby game they were playing last night… but what can you do? My fantasty team needs to be renamed “Zero and Sixteeen.” 😉

  7. I’m off this week, so I have a nine day weekend! Rode my bike 108 miles in cool, sunny weather on Saturday, stopping for fresh baked apple ollalieberry pie at Gizdich Farms. Next we’re heading up to Calistoga for mineral springs then Humboldt Redwoods after that. I love my job, but not as much as I love vacation.

  8. I had Indigenous People’s Day off. I will never celebrate that jerkwad Columbus. What a tool.

Anyway, my weekend included a fanciful romp to the dentist. I enjoyed my tooth extraction. To mark the occasion, I did my laundry and washed some dishes. It was boss.

  9. My ‘Italian Lobbyist Weekend’ was pretty good. Got some landscape lighting installed in time for the rainy and dark winter, we’ll be able to see around the driveway now without having to leave porch lights on. Made groceries early Monday morning so no crowd at the market and got some much needed cleaning of my garage done.

  10. Returned home from a week long vacation with my husband- the first real vacation with just the two of us since 1993. Boston, Salem, up the coast of Maine, through NH and into Vermont. Ate a lot of good, local food. The rental car was full of crumbs when we dropped it off.

  11. I raised $3,000 for my local children’s hospital with some friends by participating in a 24-hour video game marathon called Extra Life. The official event is next weekend but we had to do it a week early because of a time conflict. I’m 27 so staying up for 24+ hours isn’t in my programming anymore, thus my body is still suffering the effects 2 days later. I’m exhausted, groggy but happy to have done a good thing while having fun along the way.

    1. I must be the only person in the world who was NEVER wired to stay out all night. I’ve never been a partier or a heavy drinker, which pretty much destroyed my social life in college.

  12. Me and my wife spent the weekend in London. Stayed at the Russell Hotel, in Bloomsbury. It’s right behind the British Museum, so we popped in to see the Grayson Perry exhibition. Saturday evening, we went to an Afghan feast and charity auction. Lots of wine flowing. My loved one made a succesful bid for a moghul era rilfe, from north India. It’s a beautiful object, decorated with lapis lazuli and mother-of -pearl. Real bargain!

  13. We finally had a weekend that wasn’t 110 [In central Texas] so took a nice fall hike on Saturday, visited a small local museum and finally enjoyed the way long overdue rain the rest of the weekend.

  14. I woke up Saturday and cleaned for afew hours
    Then I took a nap
Then I went shopping for something to wear Sunday
    Then I took another nap
Then I went out with 9 coworkers to a VIP Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal all evening (6pm – 1am, it rained all night)

Sunday I woke up and drove with my husband for 3 hours to a nice beach resort where his parents renewed their 50th wedding anniversary vows.
On the way home we stopped for Schweddy Balls.

    It was a good weekend.

  15. On Monday I was home alone for pretty much the entire day. (keep in mind that I’m a 15-year-old girl who is only mildly loserish)
I sat around knitting quietly (I’m making a jellyfish plushie for my friend) and listening to This American Life.

  16. My boyfriend was away all weekend at a conference for game developers. He’s a professional composer for film and video games. So I spent the weekend watching the Aliens marathon on TV and creating a sea creature outfit to wear to NY Comic Con. It’s taking forever to work on but its shaping up well, and if I get the netting in the mail that I ordered by thursday I won’t have to be pants/skirt-less.
