Bristol Palin’s Nonprofit Paid Her Seven Times What It Spent On Actual Teen Pregnancy Prevention

From Think Progress:

In 2009, Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol joined a teen pregnancy prevention nonprofit called the Candie’s Foundation. Today, the Associated Press reported that the Candie’s Foundation released its 2009 tax information, revealing that Bristol was paid a salary of $262,500.

But a closer examination of the tax form by ThinkProgress shows that the group disbursed only $35,000 in grants to actual teen pregnancy health and counseling clinics: $25,000 to the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center and $10,000 to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.

  1. Who would have thought that being an unmarried teen mom paid so damned well?

A cute baby, plenty of media attention and cash, cash, cash- I’m sure that
teens across the country are getting the message loud and clear. Just not the intended message.

    1. lest we forget, they also get this message from ‘Teen Mom’ as well. I just read that MTV is gearing up for it’s THIRD season of TM; if the true message was to eliminate or more realistically, reduce teen pregnancy by showing the difficulties of what a teen mom has to go through, then shouldn’t there have only been ONE season of it? Just a thought…..

  2. The anticipated defense: “But with bristol representing us, we drew unprecedented attention to the cause and thereby blah blah blah…”

  3. Does everything that family touches turn into a scam? Justin’s probably right about the organization’s defense. How will Grandmamma Palin spin this one? “We aren’t involved in how they manage their accounting. It’s probably the Liberals and Lamestream media’s fault anyway. Um… Grizzly Mom!… The Troops!

  4. It seems quite possible that the 262,000 is just a bribe to prevent Bristol from getting pregnant again. If so, you could say that it all went to “Teen Pregnancy Prevention!”

  5. Hmm. My grandma had her first baby at age 17, and my mom did the same. Why they ain’t gettin’ no checks now?

Oh wait. They were both married at the time. Nevermind.
