If only it had been a surprise invasion:
In August 1990, an unemployed French nuclear physicist named André Gardes attempted a singlehanded invasion of Sark, armed with a semi-automatic weapon. The night Gardes arrived he put up signs declaring his intention to take over the island the following day at noon. He was arrested while sitting on a bench, changing the gun’s magazine and waiting for noon to arrive, by the island’s volunteer Constable

The island is a car-free zone[31] where the only vehicles allowed are horse-drawn vehicles, bicycles, tractors, and battery-powered buggies or motorised bicycles for elderly or disabled people.

That’s awesome! There are some German islands with such regulations, too. In Wangerooge (German version) for example the only vehicles allowed are construction vehicles, dumper trucks that preserve the island’s current shape (it moves), emergency vehicles and some electrically powerded small trucks for personal and commercial transports. And all kinds of bicycles and pedal go carts, of course. Life there is really quiet and slow and the air is much fresher than anywhere else. I enjoyed it alot when I was in a hockey training camp there.

Those darn Sarkians (Sarkites? Sarktonians?) have been asking for it for a long time. FINALLY someone had the courage to invade them! That ought to curb their global threat.

If you didn’t already know about it, there’s a snippet of information in this article on the American invasion of England in 1812.
