From Cleveland.com:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dennis Kucinich has rapped a U.S. House of Representatives cafeteria with a $150,000 lawsuit for selling him a vegetarian sandwich wrap in 2008 that he says caused dental damage when he bit into an olive pit.
The lawsuit that the Cleveland Democrat filed Jan. 3 against operators and suppliers of the Longworth House Office Building cafeteria says the sandwich he bought there “on or about” April 17, 2008 “contained dangerous substances, namely an olive pit, that a consumer would not reasonably expect to find in the final product served.”
Biting into it caused serious “permanent dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures,” the legal documents say. They contend the congressman is entitled to damages for future dental and medical expenses and to compensate him for pain, suffering, and loss of enjoyment.

A consumer should not reasonably expect an enjoyable film given Shyamalan’s track record. No court in the world would take your case.

But the animated tv series was awesome, creating an unrealistic expectation that the film would follow suit. I’LL SEE YOU IN COURT!

Unless someone intentionally planted the olive pit I would laugh him out of court if I was on the jury.

This is a civil case not criminal, intent has nothing to do with it.

I’ve run into olive pits before in our cafeteria at work. Who knew I could sue?
I regularly eat Greek olives, so I’m normally wary of pits anyway.

Don’t forget: you can sue for potential injury, just like the fountain lady! Go back and sue for all those olives you’ve ever eaten. They could have had pits in them, and you could have broken a tooth.

I am shocked, SHOCKED that Dennis Kucinich would sue. He’s just lost his liberal cred with me. He’s got the best medical and dental insurance there is as a Congressman. This stinks.

Not to dispute the frivolity of his claim but fed employees have nearly zero dental insurance, congressmen have the same FEHB benefits other feds do. Due to the nuances of policy that if one insurance policy offers something all need to the dental portion is so watered down it basically pays less than 1% of any dental procedure including preventative exams. I’m just glad I found a supplemental insurance to offset some costs of dental.
