1. I’m surprised they got away with saying “make love to you” on TV back then. That was a few years before The Doors caught hell for saying “girl we couldn’t get much higher.” Even Dean Martin made a joke about being stoned (although he probably meant being drunk).

    1. “Make love” as a euphemism for sex was fairly new at the time, and censors could easily pretend that what was meant was the much older sense of courting or innocent amorous attentions.
