What she said is correct. She made a mistake, and now she’s an advocate to help other people not make that same mistake. Try not to blow a gasket understanding this concept.
Obviously she used her mom’s fame to gain fame for herself, but what she said was not incorrect. Are you seriously going to demand she spends the rest of her life identifying herself as someone else’s daughter? If I were Palin’s kid, I’d sure as hell want my own identity.
wow you must be really bored to get so… for lack of a better word, outraged, over what i or chris said.
relax, it’s only tuesday, there’s plenty more week to go yet and you’re going to explode if you keep being so serious about things that don’t matter.
I agree about the meaning behind the “advocate for teenage pregnancy prevention” title, in the aspect of learning from others’ mistakes. That would be picking nits, but is she doing anything for that cause other than mentioning it now and then? I haven’t read any her magazine interviews, so maybe she’s mentioned it negatively there but if she wanted to get the word out she would do PSAs or tour high schools speaking on the subject. Instead she’s just riding her Mom’s coat tails. Even her dance coach acknowledged that (“she’s only in the public eye because of her Mom”). She should try to be known for helping teens stay out of adulthood, not just as another teen that got knocked up.
OK, now I’ll bash her too. Why is she there?
“I’m not an entertainer, I’m not a performer, so I’m nervous.”
She obviously can’t dance well. Just like her Mom, she’s just leaning on her partner to carry them through, then will blame someone else when they lose. Or if they win she’ll believe that it was a 50/50 split on the talent.
Why this show is still on TV, I will never know. She can be an advocate if she actually works with teens, teaching them about condoms and proper birth control. Not like her mom who is an “abstinence only” nutjob. We can see how this worked out so well for the Palin family.
Actually, the line that made me feel a little sad was the one about hoping not to embarrass her mom.
Seriously? A young woman (a young mother herself) goes on this show and her best hope is to not embarrass her mom? Not to have fun, not to learn something, not to do something wild and crazy she may never have a chance to do again, but to not do something her mom considers embarrassing.
Then again, given this is a mom who stepped down as Governor with a badly-explained, incoherent explanation doesn’t seem like a mom who would be easily embarrassed.

Ah, the good old “Do as I say, not as I do.” Why is there such a strong correlation between puritanism and hypocrisy ?

She looks like a 2-dollar hooker. Could you whore out that makeup any more than that? RuPaul looks more conservative…

It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that “don’t you DARE embarrass me!” was Mom’s last instruction before Bristol packed off to do the show.

I thought the judges were inordinately kind to her performance. That is all I have to say.

I thought her partner did a really good job of dancing around her.
