  1. The best video game music to date is still from the Medal of Honor series. Great, great music.

Final Fantasy VII’s music is pretty epic, too.

  2. Oh, and I do love this theme. It set the mood perfectly for the game. I think this was the first ever PC game I ever got – they had a deal at CompUSA (which is long since defunct) that if you bought Diablo full-price, you got Warcraft II for $6. I waited for MONTHS for Warcraft II to arrive.

I occasionally glance at the receipt for that first computer and just laugh. The thing had 16 megs of RAM and a 2 gig hard drive, and it cost over $2000.

      1. I’m going to be dropping between $1500-2000 on a new computer whenever I actually get a real job….which is looking more and more like “never.”

      2. I don’t mean to sound like a nerd snob, but if you build it yourself, you’ll save about $1,000.

Visit Tom’s Hardware, check out their monthly system breakdowns.

  3. Yes… Amazing music. Absolutely incredible.

Other music that has a similar effect on me:
    Fable
    Total Annihilation (the orchestral score)
    Ultima Online
    Wing Commander II

    Sigh….. MIDI.

  4. Ahh, that brings me back! There’s only a couple of games I remember having really good soundtracks, two that come to mind are Fallout 1 and SimCity (2 I think). Fallouts music just fit the atmosphere of the game so perfectly
