About the Judge Who Ruled on Prop 8

He must be one of them liberal commie types right?

… this “liberal San Francisco judge” was recommended by Ed Meese, appointed by Ronald Reagan, and opposed by Alan Cranston, Nancy Pelosi, Edward Kennedy, and the leading gay activist groups. It’s a good thing for for advocates of marriage equality that those forces were only able to block Walker twice.

  1. Just goes to show how often you can’t know how a judge is going to work out until he or she is on the bench. Or, as Eisenhower once said: “I made two mistakes, and both of them are sitting on the Supreme Court.”

On the other hand, some are depressingly predictable (I’m looking at you, Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito).

  2. Just like Roy Jones was labelled a “liberal activist judge” when he ruled on the Dover case, despite his lifelong Republican affiliation and appointment by W. He’ll be pilloried by the right.
