Police Reportedly Ask Transgender Topless Sunbathers To Put Tops Back On

From MyFoxDC:

REHOBOTH BEACH, Delaware – Rehoboth Beach lifeguards requested police assistance late Saturday afternoon for a situation involving a group of transgender men who had their breasts exposed according to a report by the Rehoboth Weekend Update.

The on-line publication reported that the incident happened by the surf near Queen Street around 4:45 p.m.

The report says that a lifeguard reported having an ‘odd problem’ involving ‘girls’ on the beach with their tops off.

Over the radio the lifeguard reported that the male individuals claimed to be transgender and claimed they did not have to wear tops.

The incident was reported to a passing police officer.

The beach patrol and police officer insisted the group was not in compliance with city ordinances.

According to the Update, a police source told them at least two of the men appeared to have breast implants.

The incident was resolved when the beach patrol and several police officers convinced the men to cover their breasts.

Barney Frank calls for probe of Gaza raid

From the Boston Herald:

U.S. Rep. Barney Frank had harsh words yesterday for the Israeli Navy after a bloody raid on a pro-Palestinian flotilla outside of Gaza, describing nine activists killed in the conflict as “innocent” and calling for an independent inquiry into the showdown.

Frank, in a wide-ranging interview with the Herald, went on to say that “as a Jew,” Israeli treatment of Arabs around some of the West Bank settlements “makes me ashamed that there would be Jews that would engage in that kind of victimization of a minority.”

The comments rankled some local Jewish leaders, who said activists on the largest vessel of the six-ship-flotilla sparked the deadly confrontation by attacking Israeli Naval commandos as they rappelled onto the ship.

I never win anything big. I’ve won $100 dollars a few times on video poker machines but that’s about it.

You?

From AP:

U.S. use of the sweetener found in most soft drinks, cereals and a range of other products dropped 11 percent between 2003 and 2008, the most recent year figures were available. A number of companies also have stopped using corn syrup in some or all products, including Hunt’s ketchup, Snapple, Gatorade and Starbucks’ baked goods.

Producers blame the decline on a campaign that argues corn syrup is behind rising obesity in the U.S. and that favors sugar over the refined product, although most nutritionists find little difference between the two. They also accuse the sugar industry of pushing a campaign that has helped sugar refining increase about 7 percent from 2003 to 2008.

As of 2008, high fructose corn syrup makers produced an average of 53.1 pounds a year for every American, compared with 65.7 pounds of sugar produced for use in the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The agency doesn’t track consumption.

“I think what we’re seeing is a real awakening of public interest and public consciousness of the food we eat,” said activist Curt Ellis, a producer of the 2004 movie “King Corn” about subsidies that helped corn become a dominant U.S. crop.

Ellis added, though, that he wished Americans would stop eating so many sweeteners, whether refined from corn or sugar.
