I love this. Republicans look at the mistakes of the past and think, “We just weren’t extreme enough.” Which is why they look at the Bush years and think Palin would be a great idea.
So….. its guilty until proven innocent…if you don’t have the right look…. oh wait…in his case he is guilty even tho proven innocent..cause he had the right look….
A similar thing happened to me, but on a MUCH smaller scale. I look young for my age, and when I was 26 I once had to argue for 10 minutes with a bouncer to get into a bar. He looked at my drivers license and said, “get out of here! I had a fake ID when I was in high school too.”
Of course it’s not the same as being threatened with deportation, but I know how frustrating it is to have the required proof and still be called a liar. You really feel helpless and pissed off.
My sister looks VERY young for her age and when she was 21 or 22 (and had just graduated from chef school with top honors) she tried to get a sample from one of the little booths in a grocery store. They told her (completely seriously, and they wouldn’t change their mind) that she needed a parent to accompany her because free samples weren’t given to children under 12 without a parent present.
Sadly this is more common than one might think. At least he got off with a three day stay rather then several months followed by deportation as some of the citizens described here have experienced.

In high school I was accused of cheating on work that I had done alone in study hall, when most of my friends had shared answers.
Why was I accused? Probably cause I have bad handwriting and looked lazy to her.
