Tax Day Tea Party 2010

I really want to thank the Teabaggers for giving me something to post on my blog on an otherwise boring web day.

  2. humpnik,

You know, you can go around and interview people on any side of the political spectrum and cut together the parts where they stumble… but nowhere else you can make them look this stupid.

I mean, there could be a real conversation, real criticism.

It is kinda strange the government forces you to take health insurance from the same companies that are the reason the system is broken without any public alternative. Obama’s stance on privacy and civil liberties isn’t much better than Bush’s. You can discuss the effect of taxation or even the ethics of abortion if you really want to. But these people don’t even do that. They’re just celebrating a party about shouting catch phrases with zero substance. It’s so sad that this is what American discussion culture has come to.

I think you underestimate the power of deceptive editing. It is ALWAYS capable of using vox pops of virtually any group of people to make them look like idiots, whether they actually are or not. It doesn’t feel like that’s what’s being done here, (not too much anyway, though there is some of that) but it is always very easy to do.

    Mr. Simpson, Mr. Simpson! Noooooo!!!!.

  4. Mike K,

They don’t want taxes, but they want the benefits of them. Who do they think pays the DOT to manage the highways they drove to get there? For that matter, who do they think pays for the maintenance of the very ground where they held their rally? (I could go on, but you get the picture). Maybe they should walk the talk and keep all their protests off public property.

The ignorance of the individuals is entertaining, but I got a little sick when the crowd was getting whipped into a frenzy by hearing the names of FOX’s celebrities. With that mob mentality the speaker could have told them to storm the Whitehouse and lynch Obama and most of them would have tried.

Interesting how the “conservatives” that want a better country had no problem openly shouting “bullshit” in unison. Nice example to set for the kids.

  5. CPR,

Confidence and ignorance looks really ugly. I would be quite embarrassed if I attended a rally and could not answer basic question about the subject matter.

  6. Stick,

This is way funnier than anything Victoria Jackson has ever done before. Just when I thought her career was over, she shows me that she can do comedy. Too bad she was never this funny on SNL.
