Like a Bad Cold You Can’t Get Rid of

Is it just me or do other people have trouble getting “Sir Duke” out of your head once you’ve heard it. My alarm clock woke me up Monday morning to it and it’s been bouncing around in my head since then. So let’s see how many of you watch the YouTube clip and then come back here days from now wanting to kill me for spreading this insidious musical virus.

  1. I refuse to listen! I will not cave. I already have a bad version of auld lang syne bumping around in my skull along with Dylan’s Must be Santa as well as the insidious Santa Baby!

  2. My Man Stevie!
I live in Detroit and grew up with this stuff.
“Superstition” and “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing” are the ones I can’t get outta my head!

  3. I used to think that Chicago had the best brass section until the first time I heard Sir Duke. Ever since that time, this has been my favorite brass. I will be back in a week to tell you that it is still whirling around in my head and I’m lovin’ it.

  4. well i listened to it about 45 minutes ago, and sure enough i have the chorus playing in my head, but its more faint than most songs are when stuck in my head so i would be surprised if it is still there at the end of the day.

a couple weeks ago i had “blue christmas” stuck in my head for no less than four days.

  5. This was going through my mind just this morning, which isn’t surprising since I’ve had this song stuck in my head since I was 10 years old! I can even remember the first time I heard it–it was after a little league game and I was eating a very low-grade hot dog. Ever since, I have associated the song with disappointment. I should have ordered the hamburger instead.

  6. It’s pretty much a weekly thing now days, but I’m amazed at the things that people assume are common place, and everyone knows about them, when really, it’s just your particular subset of the world that’s familiar with it.

First time I’ve heard this song I think, it’s pretty good.
