Is it just me or do other people have trouble getting “Sir Duke” out of your head once you’ve heard it. My alarm clock woke me up Monday morning to it and it’s been bouncing around in my head since then. So let’s see how many of you watch the YouTube clip and then come back here days from now wanting to kill me for spreading this insidious musical virus.
According to the International Journal of Microbiology, biologists in Roanoke, Virginia, analyzed 30 different soda fountains (20 self-serve and 10 staff-dispensed) for microbial contaminants and found that nearly half of them contained coliform bacteria — with 11 percent containing E. coli and 17 percent C. meningosepticum.
And most of the bacteria was resistant to some antibiotics.
There are quite a few threads popping up in the Avatar forums about ways to cope with the depressing fact that Pandora doesn’t really exist.
After I watched Avatar at the first time, I trully felt depressed as I “wake” up in this world again.
So after few days, I went to cinema and watched it again for the second time to relieve the depression and hopeless feeling.
Now I listen to the soundtrack and share my views in this forum. It really helps.
First time I too woke up and got that strange depressed feeling. That forced me to go to the cinema the next day. Again I got that feeling, even got it after the 3rd time. Now i think I’m an addict of this depression, and i like it, it kinda makes me a better person, or something like that. That’s why I’m here, writing.
The past 7 nights in a row my wife has asked me to have sex with her, and I just havent been in the mood. Scratch that. I’m incredibly horny most of the time, but I dont feel attracted to her anymore. The sight of her naked literally does nothing for me, and I’m frightened by that. Instead I imagine Neytiri. Her majestic grace and boundless beauty as well as the alien mystery about her. I want to fly off to pandora and live with her, to be with her always. I would worship her as she deserves. I’d do anything to just to touch her, to smell her.
She’s the perfect woman, and i feel like this life here has lost its spark. Where is the magic in humanity. Just a few days ago, my son asked me some question about what happened in Avatar. I dont even remember what it was, but after I told him, I started crying. Right in front of him. All I can think about is how depressing it is that I will never reach pandora. I almost vomited while I cried. It was the most pathetic thing I have ever done. Im in my 30’s for god’s sake. I have to remain strong for my son. Right?
The Avatar forums have replaced the Rapture Ready board for my source of cheap entertainment.
From Consumerist comes this in-depth article of Best Buy’s pre-optimized computer package which basically seems to be you giving them 40 bucks to run Windows Update and get rid of trial software:
Over the past year, a number of you have been telling us that, due to “pre-optimization” of computers, it’s difficult — sometimes impossible — to walk into a Best Buy and leave with the advertised deal (in effect, you would be paying a $39.99 surcharge over the computer’s advertised price). We decided to look into your complaints. We sent the Consumer Reports secret shoppers to 18 different Best Buys in 11 states, and one of our shoppers was denied the price advertised for a specific model because only pre-optimized computers were available. When the Consumer Reports engineers compared three “optimized” computers to ones with default factory settings, there was no performance improvement. In one case, an optimized laptop actually performed 32% worse than the factory model.
The whole article is quite interesting but not very surprising. I try to avoid Best Buy at all costs. They push that extended warranty program harder than a used car-salesman pushing you to get rust-proofing for your windows.
Heeb Magazine (Or should i say ‘H’ word Magazine) interviews the man who created the 7 part, 70 minute methodical evisceration of The Phantom Menace.
And if you haven’t seen the review yet, check it out. I’ve already watched it more times than I have watched The Phantom Menace. So I’ve watched it twice.
If you have a blog and would like to share it with the rest of the class, please leave a link in the comments.
