1. I used to be a really big fan of all things Cthulhu, but again, I ask you, how do you reconcile admiring something that was created by such a horrible racist?

  2. Unless you think Lovecraft’s racism is ever-present in every single artistic creation and/or that it’s going to make you a racist, does it matter what views he held? He’s certainly not going to benefit monetarily from anyone purchasing or reading his works as he’s been dead for 62 years.

I’m pretty sure separating the individual from his achievements and contributions is something everyone does. Have you avoided seeing Chinatown, Rosemary’s Baby, and The Pianist because Roman Polanski raped a child? Do you avoid listening to Wagner because he was a rabid anti-Semite? Do you avoid using alternating current because Nikola Tesla was an anti-Semite? Do you avoid exercising your constitutional rights because many of the founding fathers owned slaves?

  3. Good points. Those things are tainted to me and always will be, but it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate them for the positive aspects they bring to my life.
