1. I agree! I was all up in this meme yesterday. And I know I’m a horrible person for saying this, but the Patrick Swayze one is my favorite, and I linked several people to it.

  2. The sad part about this is that this is the second time Kanye did the exact same thing at the MTV Europe Music Awards a few years back:

His reasoning back then: HIS video cost a million dollars and had Pamela Anderson in it. I kind you not! Quote: “If I don’t win, the award show looses credibility!”

You know, he’s a jackass. But then again, his main fault is that he takes these awards seriously. And I kinda feel for him. He’s like a child. Or the less-cute version of a child: a teenager.

Other artists would have their PR speech prepared and, in reality, wouldn’t care about an award like this except for gaining a little publicity. Kanye thinks it’s an actual award for art and culture, when in reality it is an award for hype and mass-appeal. I think the guy would be much happier if he was some obscure underground musician. His music is still among the most interesting rap music out there. He’s so out of place in the pop-music scene he chose for himself. It’s really sad.

  3. The LA Times had an article about the growing lack of civility, and specifically cited Joe Wilson, Kanye and Serena. I think the meme making him the laughingstock of the country is even better than some kind of censure.
