iPhone Activated

Yes, I know posting has been light. I’m currently playing around with my new iPhone and have been spending my time pushing buttons and downloading apps.

Here are the apps that I think I’ll get the most use out of:
Tweetdeck or Twitterific. Leaning toward Tweetdeck at the moment.
Dictionary. Self explanatory.
Instapaper. I spend a lot of time commuting on the train. Being able to save an article from my computer so that I can read it later on the train is almost worth the price of admission to iPhone land by itself.
Stanza. But the Kindle for iPhone might win out in the end. Too early to tell.
Wikiamo. Again, this will be a big help on the train.

USA Today, NY Times and BBCReader for quick headlines.
And of course The Weather Channel.

Other good ones:
The Constitution
Evernote (Haven’t played with this yet)
UrbanSpoon and Yelp.
Have2P(This could be a must if you’re like me and have the bladder of a 90 year old diabetic)
iHandy Level (Kind of cool although I don’t think I’ve ever used an actual level)
and i.TV

I haven’t even looked at pay apps yet.

  1. Get the “Find My Iphone” app, too. A local college student here had it when he was robbed, and was able to track his Iphone using the GPS and Google Earth…and the police found the robbers without trouble.

  2. OMG – I just got one too for my 40th! I like Brushes (it’s actually a pretty powerful paint program) Free RSS (so I can keep up on Cynical-C!)Bloom, Koi Pond, Ocarina, snaptell, Urbanspoon, Ebay, Nightstand, Smacktalk, FCtasks and FCGoals (Franklin Covey to go with my Franklin planner).

I’ve had the phone for four days. I’ve had about 4 hours of sleep a night I can’t stop playing with it. Not to mention ringtones, wallpapers and Ambiance which you can make your own white noise mixes from some pretty incredible sounds.

I’m in complete drooling awe. The reception is amazing – regular cell phones don’t work in my house this one I get 5 bars on. I may fry my brain but I am loving every minute of it! The battery life is amazing! Bye bye pink Razr!

I managed to get all my favorite music on here (my iTunes library is kind of small) and three digital movies copies downloaded from my Blu-rays. I still have 17 gig open.

    I love Apple!!!

    My eyes hurt.

  3. I just picked up Wyse PocketCloud. Its 20.00 but COMPLETELY WORTH IT!! Through my Iphone I can get remote access to my computer at home and at work. Its fantastic.

  4. i use tipstar all the time. i also like cool facts. my fave is the Oakley surf report – they have all the hawaii surf spots with wave heights and wind speeds…. excellent!
