Quote of the Day

From Reddit:

So let me get this straight: liberals protest war; conservatives protest health care. Ok. Just wanted to be clear.

  1. Estaban,

What Obama is proposing is nothing more that dumping more money into a broken system. People are right to protest it.

Please take a few minutes and read this article.

  2. I’ll admit, I think the current plan is far from ideal, but it is a step in the right direction. Hopefully, eventually, it will lead to the kind of healthcare the rest of the first world has come to enjoy. For now we have too many people looking to pad their own wallets and their gullible squads of goons to make their voices heard to ever see any real good come out of healthcare reform. Slowly weaken the (congressman) buying power of the fat cats by giving a public option they can’t compete against and then, once the goons see healthcare is good, start taking bigger steps until it all falls into place. Then again, maybe it’s best things stay as they are, there’s a lot more freedom with the current system. The freedom to choose between poverty and health.

  3. AJ,

One of the biggest problems we have in our country right now is the over-simplification and complete dismissal of the other side. The quote from Reddit is an excellent example.

  5. Patricio,

One problem I can see is that one of the sides in this issue has, for some time now, failed to operate in reality. How does one reason with and work with a group of people who hate the government on principle because Reagan told them to, think that gay parades caused Hurricane Katrina, believe Obama is a secret Muslim Communist from Kenya, etc., and in terms of the health care issue, believe that the sole purpose of HC reform is to further the goals of socialist totalitarianism and kill babies and the elderly with “death panels”. At what point do rational people continue to try and “understand” these people and listen to these foaming half-breeds ranting from the peanut gallery? Are we going to wait until some “patriot” tries to assinate the president in the name of God? Personally, I’ve had enough of this crap. So, sorry, Esteban, I’m not buying your “people are right to protest it” argument. And just to be clear, it’s not the protesting that I have problem with, it’s how they go about it that counts and the quality of what they are saying. And so far, they are saying nothing of importance and have no solutions beyond a few tired slogans and a bunch of guns and a whole lot of ignorant rage.

  6. Amanda,

Isn’t it funny how legitimacy has the full turn around. Protest war as informed, the conservative media will take great pains to make you look like an ass in sound bites. Protest health care as uninformed, and the conservative media will take great pains to make you a hero of the masses in sound bites.

Fox et al are nothing but the lap dogs of the GoP, so you have to ask yourself who is wagging the dog.
