Politicians that spew class warfare and empty slogans never have a problem getting a sizeable crowd of unemployed folk and college students. You can also grab the shallow MTV crowd if you’re perceived as a cool dude.
Don’t dispair though. What you don’t see is grounds for true Hope (sorry Barry): the vast majority of local residents who DIDN’T show up at the rally.

Politicians who milk their war hero status for everything that it’s worth (which is less than originally thought, it seems) and yet have nothing substantive to offer this nation other than the same old shite that we’ve seen for the past 8 years have no trouble getting a sizeable crowd of simpletons and bible thumpers. You can also grab the white geriatric crowd if you’re perceived as an old white dude.
Don’t despair though. People are eventually forgiven for being on the wrong side of history.
