Day August 6, 2008

Atheist Finds Nothing in His Toast

I wasn’t that hungry tonight so I just thought I would make some toast when all of a sudden it popped up and I was staring at the face of NOBODY in the toast! NON-HOLY WHITE BREAD! What are the chances of an atheist getting a piece of toast that looks like nothing! Somebody call the media! I haven’t been this shocked since I found the Flying Spaghetti Monster in my vermicelli.

Two O’Clock Trailers – It’s a Wonderful Life

(And no, I don’t need tissue)

Total Solar Eclipse of 2008

From The Big Picture:

On August 1st, 2008, starting in the morning, over northern Canada, observers on Earth could watch this years only total solar eclipse. While a partial eclipse could be seen over a larger area, the shadow of totality passed over Greenland, Norway and Russia, then evaporated into the night sky over China. Here you will find a collection of photographs of this eclipse, and people here on Earth, taking it all in.

DIY Batman Tumbler

From Gizmodo:

Bob Dullam is a man possessed—by a lot of things, surely, but mainly by the drive to build this absolutely amazing working replica of Batman’s current-gen Batmobile, the Tumbler. Our buddies over at Jalopnik have spotted it, and It’s got it all—the afterburner, the huge honking double-barrel wheels, the stealth-toothiness on all of the edges—immaculate. Dullam threw it all together with nothing more than commonly available photos and the movies themselves, all custom welded, in his own garage by himself.

Question of the Day

Abbi from Curly Comedy, flush from her previous question of the day that got over 150 answers, is back with another QOD.

When was the last time you cried?

Technically, I cry every morning while prying my eyes open long enough to stick contacts into them but I don’t think that’s what Abbi’s going for in her question. So I gave it some thought and my first response is embarrassing giving that it happened a few years ago and It’s A Wonderful Life was involved. (Damn you ZuZu and your goddamn petals!)

But then I remembered opening up my browser one April morning last year to see that Kurt Vonnegut had died and I suddenly started blubbering into my Capt. Crunch. Ok Cynics, when was the last time your tear ducts were doing overtime?

BTW, Abbi and her fiance Luke produce a comedy show in NYC called The Living Room which is running this Friday so if you’re in the area and want a laugh feel free to drop in. If you mention Cynical C sent you they’ll give you 95% off the entrance fee:

Today’s brightest comedy stars drop in along with parodies of celebrities making headlines! Come & make yourself at home at this unique comedy show. It’s just like your living room…only hilarious!

Friday August 8th Abbi and Luke welcome:
