Church Sign Causes Controversy

From WSPA.com:

A sign is causing heated arguments outside of a church in Jonesville.

Pastor Roger Byrd of Jonesville Church of God put the sign up which reads “Obama Osama humm are they brothers?”

Pastor Byrd says the sign is not meant to be racial or political but rather to make people think. “His name is so close to Osama I have a feeling he might be Islamic therefore he doesn’t recognize Christ,” Pastor Byrd said.

I’m certain that one of the members of the congregation has some common sense though:

Pastor Byrd told News Channel 7 he would ask his congregation to vote on whether to keep the sign. They voted unanimously to keep the sign up Sunday night.

Patriots Still Pursuing Perfection

From The Smoking Gun:

APRIL 21–Three months after their bid for an undefeated season ended with a Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants, the New England Patriots are continuing to pursue trademarks on the phrases “19-0″ and “19-0 The Perfect Season,” records show. While the team may have been expected to withdraw its applications after finishing at 18-1, a Patriots lawyer recently amended the original filings to correct a typographical error, a clear indication that the organization remains committed to securing the marks (perhaps Bill Belichick & Co. are anticipating perfection in the 2008 season). On January 17, days before facing the San Diego Chargers in the AFC Championship Game, the Patriots filed the trademark applications, which, if approved, would allow the club to place “19-0″ and “19-0 The Perfect Season” on a wide variety of toys, DVDs, clothing, sporting goods, and other knick knacks.

World Airways-Last Flight from Da Nang

This CBS report was in March 1975. Edward J.Daly, owner of World Airways, sent a Boeing 727 aircraft to Da Nang Vietnam to pick up stranded woman and children. Instead the aircraft was swamped by military personnel climbing on the aircraft. There were 260 people aboard a plane which is designed to carry 105. The plane was overloaded by 20,000 pounds. The baggage compartments were loaded with people. Some of the problems during the flight included, the rear stairway remained partially extended for the entire flight, the main wheels would not retract, a hand grenade damage to one of the wings causing fuel loss, and the lower cargo doors were open. The plane had to fly at 10,000 feet because of lack of pressurization thus fuel consumption was three times greater than normal.

Daily Dose of Ingersoll

RobertGIngersoll.jpg

I believe in the religion of humanity. It is far better to
love our fellow-men than to love God. We can help them. We cannot
help him. We had better do what we can than to be always pretending
to do what we cannot.

Virtue is of no color; kindness, justice and love, of no
complexion.
