Three Little Pigs Banned Because it Could Offend Muslims

From BBC News:

A story based on the Three Little Pigs fairy tale has been turned by a government agency’s awards panel as the subject matter could offend Muslims.

The digital book, re-telling the classic story, was rejected by judges who warned that “the use of pigs raises cultural issues”.

Becta, the government’s educational technology agency, is a leading partner in the annual Bett Award for schools.

The judges also attacked Three Little Cowboy Builders for offending builders.

The book’s creative director, Anne Curtis, said the idea that including pigs in a story could be interpreted as racism was “like a slap in the face”.

..and just like that, the BBC became the Daily Mail. Bastion of irresponsible reporting and general s**t-stirring. This hoary old chestnut does the rounds every year, whether it’s Childrens Stores debating to have Piglet included in Pooh Bear themed items, or 3 Little Pigs being read at pre-school. The Muslim Council of Britain is usually consulted, and they laugh and say that there’s nothing wrong with cartoon or fictional pigs. Misguided, do-gooder, PC-obsessed, time-on-their-hands busy-bodies dream up ways to imagine that they’re offending people. It’s all in THEIR minds. Britain is so broken, I’m glad I left, I miss the countryside, but everything else is broken.

If we stop at just banning this book, the pigs have truly won. A worldwide extermination of pigs should solve this problem quite cleanly.
