The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon

From Damn Interesting:

You may have heard about Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon before. In fact, you probably learned about it for the first time very recently. If not, then you just might hear about it again very soon. Baader-Meinhof is the phenomenon where one happens upon some obscure piece of information– often an unfamiliar word or name– and soon afterwards encounters the same subject again, often repeatedly. Anytime the phrase “That’s so weird, I just heard about that the other day” would be appropriate, the utterer is hip-deep in Baader-Meinhof.

  1. That is definitely interesting. I just read that very article on that very website a week ago, then it just shows up here.

  2. Hi Chris

I’ve noticed that you like to post items/ articles on your site that have to do with (blank) effects or (blank) phenomena or even sometimes a (blank) Syndrome. Is this due to a personal fascination of these strange paragons of trivia or just happenstance? I would like to postulate that you Do indeed like these observable phenomena and would like to dub their inclusion in your site as the “Cynical-C Syndrome”. Where any and all such strange minutiae will find itself onto your Blog. (I know that this would probably classify more as a phenomenon, but “Cynical-C Syndrome” has a certain ring to it, dontcha think?. Love your site BTW. Keep up the work-most of it is good.

  3. blAsto, difficult to answer that question because my interests change quickly. I can answer about this post though. I was going through Damn Interesting and found this and didn’t realize there was a name for this circumstance which is why I posted it.

Strange things are always interesting and will find an audience.
