Tattoo Art

I guess if you are going to get something permanently etched into your skin you might as well do it right.

Luxury Submarines

phoenix.jpg

At U.S. Submarines we have developed the world’s first personal luxury submarines, capable of taking you and your guests to unseen regions of the deep ocean in perfect comfort and absolute safety. And once there, you are able to view the fascinating denizens of the deep through large, panoramic viewports, while relaxing in an interior replete with luxury and warmth.

Flight Simulator Cockpit and other amateur projects

They have some interesting projects here such as the one person pedal submarine, the remote control lawnmower and their amateur x-ray system.

O.F. was a high-school-based science/engineering/inventing club. It was
founded on the premise that the best way to learn about anything was to
design it, make it or modify it and then to use it. We would follow
natural curiosity wherever it led us. We quickly gained momentum, and
there came a point where we wanted to “know everything”. Thus the word
“omniscience” was incorporated in the name. Some national magazines
published some of the articles we submitted. The sponsor’s machine shop
was used exclusively, with members doing circuit design, electronic work,
computer programming, model building, word processing, creative writing,
photography, university library research, online research, drafting, etc.

Match Head Art

I made my first matchhead in 1982. Kinskihead was a response to a reviewer comparing one of my magazine installations to a weekend modeller making a ship or the Eiffel Tower out of matches. The reviewer talked about matches as if their rightful place was at the bottom of the materials league. I was puzzled by this and immediately attracted to this underdog.

Movie Mistakes

Here is a fairly comprehensive website detailing mistakes in movies and tv shows.

Spiderman
In the scene where Mary Jane is being mugged by four men, Spider-Man throws two of the men into two windows behind Mary Jane. Then the camera goes back to Spider-Man beating up the other two guys. When the camera goes back to Mary Jane the two windows are intact.

Gladiator

After the battle with the Germans, the next morning after the tavern, he is walking in the army camp and he feeds a horse a piece of apple. If you look closely between Maximus and the horse, there is a crewman wearing a pair of blue jeans.

Pearl Harbor

When Evelyn first enters Pearl Harbor, there is a tall building that clearly says, “Est. 1953.” Obviously this is a little ahead of the times.

Tire Sandals

Jack then told me a story about Indians from Mexico coming to the United States and winning foot races in sandals cut from tires. I’ve been interested in using tire soles before, but it seemed like I would have to glue or stitch the tire to the moccasins. I had reason to doubt that it would work. I also once had a pair of tire sandals, made in Mexico, where the leather lacing was nailed to the tire soles. Those came apart within a couple of days.

Touch Tone Sheet Music

Play this on your phone.

1 1 9 9 # # 9
6 6 3 3 2 2 1

Recognize it? It is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Didn’t sound like it on my phone though. Perhaps it needs to be tuned up.
