When Big Hair goes Bad

I really could care less about Siegfried and Roy and their silly act but when their manager starts calling Roy "heroic", I might have to speak up. The manager is blaming a woman in the audience with big hair for causing the tiger to start an attack. Roy jumped in front of the tiger and the woman and that is why he was dragged off like a rag doll. Right. I don’t think I am going to be buying that one.

DMCA Strikes Again

I made fun of it on Wednesday, but it looks like the Princeton student who broke the encryption used for copy protecting cds might be sued by SunnComm, the company that created the encryption software. Furthermore, they also claim that he violated criminal provisions of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act by doing this.

The way I see it, there is no excuse for coming up with
an encryption scheme that can be defeated using the shift key. Hiding
behind the DMCA instead of acutally coming up with an encryption scheme
that works makes them look incompetent. Engineers should be innovative
in their designs and not have to hide behind silly laws.
